Jules McClendon (Minna) is thrilled to be back on the Footlight Club stage! They were most recently in Sweat (Cynthia) and A Man of No Importance (Miss Crowe) at the Footlight Club. Jules also starred in Pippin (Leading Player) at Arlington Friends of the Drama. Jules thanks their new wife, Lizet, for her unwavering support and shout out to Desmond and Dominic!

Emma Mitchell (Lydia) is so excited to be back on stage at the Footlight Club for the third time! This show holds special significance for Emma as she is originally from VT and the premier production was at her hometown community theater (shout out to the Valley Players!). Emma holds a B.F.A. in Acting from Ithaca College and has been living and performing in Boston for 10 years. Some favorite Boston roles include Lily Byrne in A Man of No Importance (Footlight Club) and Helena in A Midsummer Night’s Dream (Theatre@First). She would like to thank the entire cast and crew for this incredibly fun experience, as well as her mom Ruth Ann, husband Dan, and friends for always supporting her!

Cassidy Guimares (Kay) is a writer and actress from Pembroke, MA, and is beyond excited to return to the Footlight Club! Past credits include Eleemosynary (Echo), Stepping Out (Andy), One Slight Hitch (P.B.), Buried Child (Bradley), and Priscilla Dreams the Answer (Priscilla). She is a proud member of the Dramatists Guild and an alum of both the Kennedy Center Playwriting Intensive and Emmanuel College, where her theater work was nationally honored by KCACTF. A big thank you to the Out of Sight, Out of Murder team, and love always to her friends and family. (@cass_guimares)

Jenna Schlags (Fiona) is excited to join the cast and crew for her first Footlight Club production! She is an artist, analyst, and playwright whose work explores queer retellings of historical figures, classical myths, and fairy tales. A staged reading of “More than Need” was produced through a grant from the Gumroad Creator’s Fund, and her short plays have been performed in festivals in both New York and Boston. Jenna earned her MBA from the University of Rochester and is a graduate of Brandeis University. Thanks to my wife Lenny, and to my fellow cast members! (https://www.jennaschlags.com)

David Brown (Dick) is thrilled to be back on stage, performing in his fifth production at The Footlight Club! Previous FLC credits include Tuck Everlasting (Ensemble), Ms. Holmes (Mycroft Holmes), Blood Relations (Dr. Patrick), and The Mousetrap (Paravicini).  Other favorite shows include Pride and Prejudice (Skylight Theater Collective), Dracula (Nemasket River Productions), The Wizard of Oz (CIC Theater), and Cinderella (Vokes Theater). He would like to thank his friends and family for their endless support and hope you enjoy his mustache, as it was especially grown for this show.

Adam Johnson (Cogburn) is excited to be back at the Footlight Club after previously appearing in Tuck Everlasting. Other favorite past credits include Urinetown (Mr. Cladwell), Grey Gardens (Major Bouvier), and The Effect of Gamma Rays on Man-in-the-Moon Marigolds (Director). Many thanks to the cast and crew, and much love to Alexa!

Sophie Pels (Addie) is very excited to be making her Footlight Club debut! Many thanks to the Out of Sight, Out of Murder cast and team, and the entire Footlight community for such a warm welcome!

Jamie Alley (Jordan) has been acting, directing, designing, producing and what-have-you for small professional and community theater for over 40 years. He performed improv professionally for 15 years, has been a radio DJ, and played and sang in various garage (or collapsing car port) bands. For the Footlight Club, he directed The Cat’s Meow, Promises, Promises and Vampire Lesbians of Sodom/Sleeping Beauty or Coma or the mainstage and various shows for the 7A Series including Ravenscroft and Chamber Music, as well as appearing in various shows. Favorite roles include Leroy (Bad Seed), Sylvia St. Croix (Ruthless!) and Gene The Gnome (The Author’s Voice). Many thanks to Kayte and the cast and crew for all the fun and thrills! Special thanks and love to David and Lily, my best kitty. “Community theater is community service!”

Kayte Duren (Director) is a director/writer/producer of theatre on the South Shore. She has been directing youth and adults in theaters and educational settings for over 15 years (New York/Boston). Some memorable productions include “Mayflower Mayhem” (writer/director) a dinner-theatre experience that ran for three seasons in Plymouth M.A. (2016-2018) as well as “The Efffect” (2021) and “Peter & The Starcatcher” (2022) at Curtain Call Theatre. Kayte is incredibly grateful for the opportunity to bring “Out of Sight…Out of Murder” to life (death?) on this reputable stage with such incredible talent. To my delightfully hilarious cast and crew: “I believe (in) you!”

Amanda Bovoso (Assistant Director) is thrilled to be working on the other side of the curtain as AD! After performing in FLC’s Pippin in 2018, she fell in love with Footlight and has been around ever since. Amanda has been involved with performing arts since childhood, both as a choral and solo singer, and a competitive dancer; however, her heart belongs to all things theater. Endless love and gratitude to her family, friends, FLC board, and this exceptional cast and crew.

Bea Life (Stage Manager) is excited to be back at the Footlight once again! She has worked here on several shows in various smaller capacities backstage over the past year and is excited to get back into stage managing for Out of Sight, Out of Murder! She wishes to thank all of her friends for their support and the exceptionally talented cast and crew for their work. Most of all thanks to our director Kayte for all her support and collaboration through this whole process!

Zach Best (Producer) is glad to be back at the Footlight once again.  Previous Footlight credits include Our Town (Mr. Webb), Honk! (Lead Carpenter), The Importance of Being Earnest (Set Designer & Lead Carpenter - DASH Award), Harvey (Director), Miss Holmes (Set Designer & Lead Carpenter), The Doll’s House (Torvald), Stepping Out (Lead Carpenter), and Tuck Everlasting (Set Designer & Lead Carpenter).  Zach is proud to serve on the Footlight Club Board of Directors.  He wishes to thank the entire cast and crew for their hard work on this delightful production!  As always, thanks to Kelley.

Michael Zimmer (Assistant Producer) spent 25+ years on stage in community theater, including The Wizard of Oz and Fiddler on the Roof here at the Footlight club. He is thrilled to move behind the stage to work with this fabulous production team and talented cast. I am thankful to the Footlight folks for giving me this opportunity to continue my involvement with this wonderful, historic theater. It has been a pleasure to “learn the ropes” from Zach, a great mentor. Thanks to my wife, Wendy Gordon, for her ongoing love and support!

Olivia Sederlund (Lighting Designer) is excited to kick off her 20th season at FLC! At age 7, she wore out her VHS copy of Clue so it is only appropriate that she lend her talents to this production. She has produced and lit many shows over the years, but some recent favorites include Tuck, Everlasting (lights), A Man of No Importance (lights), Heathers (producer), and Blood Relations (TD/lights)--where she met her husband! And, of course, she has 15+ years of running the lights for A Carol Christmas. Thanks to Zach and the team, and love always to Nick.

Erin Flagg (Set Designer) is proud to be working with The Footlight Club as the set designer for this production. Erin is a photographer by trade and her expertise with light acted as a driving inspiration for this design. She extends her gratitude to all the collaborators of this production for their welcome and support.

Lisa Belsky (Costume Designer) returns to The Footlight Club after nearly 20 years, when she costumed Willy Wonka and Rent. When she isn’t costuming, she is a mother of 2, performing arts teacher in the Boston Public Schools and a singer songwriter. Most recent shows include Romeo and Juliet, Peter and the Starcatcher, and Bright Star all of which were performed at curtain Call theater and with Triad Theater Company. She’d like to thank her family for sharing the dining room with costumes and sharing her with “the theater.”

Hannah Dillis (Props Designer) is thrilled to be joining the Footlight Club for her first production at this renowned theater! Hannah has enjoyed exploring the intersection of mystery & camp in sourcing/fabricating  for this production and it has been a pleasure helping this world and story come alive. Hannah’s recent credits include Odyssey Opera’s The Voyage of Edgar Allen Poe, Commonwealth Shakespeare Company’s Macbeth. She is also the Props Master in residence at Brandeis University where she recently worked on Wolf Play and Twelfth Night. When not working in theater or film, Hannah can be found teaching puppetry and theater to her 3-6th grade students. Hannah would like to thank Kayte & the team for having her along for this journey!

Lisa Andrews (Set Dresser) joins the team for her first Footlight Club production. As a long-time JP resident, she is delighted to be contributing behind the scenes at this cherished local institution. A graphic designer by day, Lisa studied filmmaking in college and is enjoying revisiting her love of visual storytelling. Thank you to the talented production team and to friends and family for their support.

Matt McKee (Promotional Photography) is proud to have been collaborating with the enthusiastic and creative members of the Footlight Club for the past two decades, creating photography and photo illustrations for over 80 posters. Out of Sight... Out of Murder represented an opportunity to help brand the Director’s vision for the production and work with the fantastic talents of the actors and production team. During the day, Matt can be found creating photography for a wide variety of marketers, manufacturers and industries in the Greater Boston area (samples at mckeephotography.com).

Thank You to Our Footlight Family
We Are So Grateful for Your Support

As you walked in this evening, you no doubt noticed the beautiful new accessible entrance to the Footlight.  This project – a new exterior ADA-compliant ramp and interior elevator to all four floors of Eliot Hall – ensures that all our guests can fully access all our spaces.  Along the way, extensive repairs needed to be made to the foundation and existing chimneys.  New spaces in our basement and on the third floor will provide essential props storage, and we’re already feeling warmer with an upgraded furnace system.

These upgrades were only possible through the generous financial support of our community partners. We extend our thanks to the Massachusetts Cultural Council’s Cultural Facilitates Fund, the Community Preservation Fund, and the George B. Henderson Foundation.  Most of our funding came from donations large and small from our Footlight Family. Thank you to everyone who donated.

The continued revitalization and restoration of Eliot Hall will always be one of Footlight’s top priorities.  Your contributions will continue to make it possible to take on large-and-small-scale restoration projects, as well as maintaining the day-to-day operations of the building.
