Celebrating 150 Years of the Footlight Club
As the lights come up on our historic 150th season this fall, the Footlight Club is planning a year of unforgettable performances and community celebrations. In honor of our monumental milestone as America’s oldest continuously running community theater, we are hosting three signature events alongside our regular season lineup.

The Footlight Club is America’s oldest community theater and has produced performances every year since 1877. The Footlight Club’s members have sustained the organization's mission:
To present the best in non-professional theater to a broad-based audience, and to preserve and maintain Eliot Hall as a community resource.

Throughout its long history The Footlight Club has been part of the cultural fabric of Jamaica Plain and surrounding neighborhoods. We welcome the opportunity to partner with local businesses and nonprofit organizations whenever possible.

19 artists spanning Fabric Arts, Glass, Jewelry, Painting, Photography, Sculpture and more! Sept 26-27, 11-6pm, rain or shine!
The staff at JP Clay & Create hold this space for community to gather and bring creative visions to life. In this exhibition, they explore the ideas of space, how we inhabit it, how we make it, and how we fill it. Join us in the first 3D exhibition at the Joy Cochran Gallery and enter a world of sculpture and exploration.
The world of “Into the Breeches” is very different from what we are used to. Explore letters, uniforms and displays that will set the mood for the adventures on our main stage!
Lena Jenny is a prolific, self-taught, mixed media artist, currently living and working in Boston MA. Her abstracts, whether painting, block prints or mixed media are amazing to experience in person. Reception: Nov 7, 6:30-7:30pm

Our Spring Members Art Show! Reception June 21, 6:30-7:30pm. Featuring Elizabeth Bean, Sherilyn Levy, and Bill Shamlian, plus some of our favorite show posters from the last dozen seasons. Come on by and see their work! Stay on to see Juliette McClendon's production of Crystal Skillman's "CUT!" immediately following.
The Boston Comics Roundtable celebrate the area’s vibrant community of LGBTQ comics creators in a group show of comic art. Reception May 3, 7-8pm.
The Boston Comics Roundtable and the Footlight Club will host a hands-on art-framing workshop, led by artist E. J. Barnes, on Sunday, March 30th, at the Footlight Club’s Joy Cochran Gallery. Open to all. RSVP.
Our Legacy
In addition to its full season of plays and musicals, The Footlight Club is committed to preserving Eliot Hall, a resource which is so much a part of its community. The Hall is undergoing a long-term renovation as its members and friends in the community return it to its former magnificence and improve safety and comfort for our members and patrons.
