The Joy Cochran Gallery Dedication Ceremony

Reception: September 20, 2024, 5-7pm

The Joy Cochran Gallery in the Parker Room
Eliot Hall
7A Eliot Street
Jamaica Plain, MA

Please join us on September 20th from 5pm to 7pm, at The Footlight Club, for the official naming ceremony for the Joy Cochran Gallery, in the Parker Room, at Eliot Hall.

For over 40 years, Joy Cochran was a very active member of The Footlight Club. Her various roles in the community theater company ran the gamut from makeup artist to Vice President.

In 1996, she began to develop the walls in Eliot Hall’s Parker Room into a gallery space, with the singular goal of connecting people and bringing audiences together. She curated over 125 shows and featured hundreds of artists during that time.

She was also the president of the Jamaica Plain Arts Council for more than twenty years. That organization produced the Jamaica Plain Open Studios program, which is now in its thirty first year.

We are dedicating this space in her honor, to continue her wishes to build a vibrant and healthy arts community in Jamaica Plain.
