Workshop: Preparing Art for Gallery Shows

Sunday, March 30, 2025
2:00p-3:30pm

RSVP:

The Boston Comics Roundtable and the Footlight Club will host a hands-on art-framing workshop, led by artist E. J. Barnes, on Sunday, March 30th, at the Footlight Club’s Joy Cochran Gallery.

Are you a cartoonist or comics artist with art you want to display in the upcoming LGBTQIA+ themed show at the Footlight Club, or at any other gallery or gallery-like venue, or for Open Studios in your town?

How about a member of The Footlight Club who would like to show in one of our upcoming members’ art shows?

Then you’ll need to prepare that art for hanging!

You could go to a framing shop, but you’ll get better and less expensive results by learning to mount and/or frame your art yourself.

Good presentation will preserve your art, enhance its appeal, and value, to collectors, and make your studio walls look great.

This workshop is free to all but has limited space. Reserve your in person spot here.

The Workshop Topics

  • how to prepare art for framing

  • where to buy frames or frame sections online for maximum flexibility and value

  • Glass and glazing

  • different hanging systems

  • How to make galleries happy to show your work

E. J. Barnes will also show her special technique of displaying word balloons on comics art even if you added your lettering digitally for publication.
